It's a mystery

 July 12. 2021

Crystal Rock CG, Sandusky, Ohio

It was the Ram's turn for some attention...oil change, filters, etc so Dad made an 8am appointment.  Momma had plans to whip up a batch of peach muffins using the sweet, juicy peaches she had purchased at the Bulk Food Store/E&S in Shipshewana but......all that went by the wayside.  She got caught up in a mystery.

When she signed onto her computer to check her mail, the Outlook mail program was missing.  When she went to open up her Peach Muffin Recipe, the Word program was missing.  Now here's the mystery.  Office 2016 was GONE...missing.....not on the computer any longer.  HUH????

Well, no problem, just reload it.  But there was a problem with that idea.  No, having the key code was NOT the problem because thankfully that was saved as a PDF file and that was still a working program.  The problem was finding the reinstall/download link.

Dad got back around 10:45 and Momma was STILL trying to get squared away.  After contacting Microsoft for assistance, the download began.  Would you believe it took 55 minutes for a download that would normally take 10 minutes?  Life sometimes demands patience.

So all is well.  The Office Suite is now functioning once again..still a mystery as to why it disappeared????  You don't think they want us to purchase 365 which is a monthly pay rather than a purchase and you own it???

The muffins finally got made at the end of the day because the afternoon was spent in nearby Fremont at Rutherford Hayes's Presidential Libary and summer home tour.

The entrance steps were unique in that they allowed for wheel chair access as well as pedestrian steps.
Hayes had strong feelings about history and sharing with the public.  His library was one of the first, if not the first.

Lucy and Rutherford wanted a porch on their summer home, so the whole front of the house is a porch.

knock, knock
There was also a side carriage entrance with a smaller foyer.  The home has been preserved in period style.  Check out the ceiling.
Library
Dining Room
It was surprising to see closets.  Closets are not typical for this time period.  There was also a downstairs bedroom, also not typical.

The Presidential Library included a collection of civil war fire arms and weapons.
The item on display on the bottom is 9 ft in length.  Can you imagine trying to handle that weapon?
I got lucky because Aunt Carol and Uncle Steve came over to our rig for another night of card games and I was able to talk Aunt Carol into tossing my rubber bone for me to chase up and down the steps to the bedroom.  She LOVES to spoil me!!

Tomorrow is travel day as we head further east to Conneaut, Ohio for a one night stop over.

Catch you down the road...

I'm Chloe
