The gal who checked us in at Twin Oaks lit up with sparkling eyes and a bright smile when she stated that in her opinion, Durden's Prime Meats in Perry
has better tasting steaks than M & T so.....with that kind of a recommendation, the two-legged decided to check Durden's out.
Upon arrival on Tuesday morning, they were greeted by a friendly employee who shared with them that fresh cuts were available but if we were considering freezing our purchases, we might want to consider purchasing the already frozen, shrink wrapped choices available in the stand up freezer section as they are 25% off...and already frozen. How could you go wrong? So we not only have frozen packages in our freezer, but a fresh cut steak, ready to grill on Wednesday to see for ourselves if we agree with the gal's recommendation.
After the meat shopping expedition, we hitched up and headed further south on I-75. Things were rolling right along when we suddenly heard a LOUD BANG. Dad assumed that the eighteen wheeler next to us had blown a tire until he looked in our side view mirror and saw smoke and rubber in the air. WE had a tire explode.
The good thing was, the blow out was on the passenger side of the rig allowing the tire to be changed away from all the traffic. The bad thing was, there was so much traffic and so many big rigs zipping by us that our rig was rocking .... so much so that camper rocked off the jack... twice! Scary for sure. The first time was when the jack was being used to change out the damaged tire. The second time was when the jack was being used to remove the other tire so the rolled up metal from the over the tires metal fender could be removed.
Before Dad could complete the repair, Ron, a Good Samaritan appeared to lend a hand. That also resulted in a great recommendation for a tire shop in nearby Adel where we secured a new tire, allowing the spare to resume its position under the rig as a spare. Thank you Ron!
So with all the 'experiences' and 'incidents' we have been tallying up this summer, the question is 'what next?' Only time will tell.....
I'm Chloe
