visiting Blairsville

 October 24-25, 2025

Valley River RV Resort site 42

Marble, NC

I can't say I'm real excited over our stay at here.  It is down right boring if you ask me.  Now if you should ask Momma or Dad, they will expound about what a great area this is and how busy they have been. Are you reading between the lines?  Are you getting the picture of what has been transpiring?

After an interesting ride through the construction maze, traveling between the concrete walls encouraging travelers to follow the correct path followed by winding around on the highway that was built following the Nantahala River that twists and turns, we slid into our back in site and attempted to set up our 5er and kick back for a bit.  Well, so much for kicking back.  It was once again time for Dad to get out the step ladder for some cable repair.  It seems the cable had disconnected from the cable holder for the driver side slide.  By the time the repair was finished it was time to toss me a treat, with a 'be good.  We will be returning.' message as they loaded up in the Ram to meet their friends for dinner.  Not only old friends, but new, soon to become friends.

Tim and Julie, our Florida neighbors, have summer property fondly referred to as Camp Chicken Pot Pie in nearby Blairsville, Georgia.  They had introduced everyone to Jim's Smokin' Que which has become a 'must visit' stop every time we are in the area for fall off the bone ribs

or pulled pork or tender brisket or brunswick stew just to mention a few of the delicious offerings.  Tina and Steve who had joined us for a day in Tennessee decided to rejoin us here as they also love the great bbq as well as spending time with Tim and Julie.  But the party of seven grew to ten when another friend, Darrell, who has relocated from Florida to this area also joined everyone as well as Bonnie and Wayne, friends of Tim and Julie, who were introduced to everyone.  It took two tables to accommodate the hungry diners.

Now, they could have returned to me so I could happily greet everyone and quite possibly convince someone from the gang to play with me but.... off they went to Bonnie and Wayne's beautiful home to play two-legged games,

without a thought about me, home all alone....boring for me for sure.

Not only did they play Dirty Uno, but Bonnie shared some of her artistic creations.

She definitely is a very thoughtful, caring, sharing lady.  She generates creative gift bags, personalized book marks, and clever candy wrappers that she gifts to friends, brightening their day.  But the creativity doesn't stop there.  She loves trees and lights and has decorated her home for the fall with colorful lit trees for the season that are wrapped in fall leaves.  And check out the lit glass seasonal blocks.

It was an enchanting tour taking in all the decorations.

Now surely, after getting home late enough to grab a shower and hit the bed, I had expectations of some 'quality' time spent with me.  Wrong!

The next morning after a quick breakfast, off they headed once again.  This time to check of items on Momma's check list.  #1:  The Union County Farmer's Market that was loaded with vendors with creative craft items as well as produce, honey, soaps, cheeses and baked goods. #2:  Logan's Turnpike to stock up on Dad's favorite Mountain Morning Pancake Flour that is a mix of flours include corn meal as well as purchasing several jars of Raspberry with Muscadine Wine Jam that has become a favorite. #3:  Bitter Creek Market and Deli that sells Candied Pickle Strips that they haven't found for sale anywhere else. #4:  Viewing the finished 'cabin' that Tim and Julie built on their property along with the creative outdoor furniture Tim has constructed with the wood from his trees

#5: Enjoying another selection off the menu at Jim's Smokin' Que.

Items 1 - 4 were accomplished before returning to me.  The only reason item 5 wasn't also accomplished before returning to me was the crowd of people who also wanted to enjoy bbq.  The gang decided it would be best to go with take out, which was eaten on our picnic table at our campsite.  Hey, guys.  Doesn't anyone want to share with me?

No sooner was dinner over and I was shuffled back inside while they loaded up in the Ram.  Hey, Momma, you haven't even unpacked the computer so I can begin writing my blog.  Don't tell me you are going back to the wonderful house of your new friends Bonnie and Wayne for more games.  I do realize we are only here for a short two night stay and you had to shorten your list of  'to do' items in order to fit within the time frame.

I guess I'll have to be happy and enjoy your smiles that were generated from the visit to this area.  I'm sure we'll be returning sometime in our future.  After all, you have made some new friends while here this time thanks to Tim and Julie.  It's too bad they don't have a dog for me to play with.

I'm Chloe
