Smiles in the morning from everyone. I got to play ball chase on the grass just behind the rig. What a great way to begin a day. I almost hate to lay down near the rig on all that dirt because I just had a tubby Thursday morning and my coat is shiny white. Not to worry though, they put me in the rig on guard duty while they put on their smiles and loaded up in the Ram with Mosser Glass as the first destination.
This family business had it's beginnings in the 1950s when Mosser began purchasing some glass molds. This process involves pressing hot glass into molds. The tour began at the Christmas tree station.Hot glass was put into a mold and pressed, released and then began the polishing/finish process.
The men worked as a team, each with his specific job.
At the next station, the men were working as a team to produce pink batter bowls. It was the same process. Hot glass pressed into the mold and then the finishing/polish processs before cooling begins.
They will produce 300 - 400 in a day.
It was interesting to note that there is no built in remedy if the mold is overfilled. These workers are so experienced they just know how much hot glass to use. And by hot glass....we are talking 2000 degrees. The third station working that day was turning out beautiful deep purple glasses.
The showroom was just loaded with items for purchasing. Such an abundance of color and items. These cake plate covers are sent to some hand painters then returned and fired to seal the paint.Momma said she just couldn't see purchasing a beautiful creation and then bouncing it around on these highways.
Uncle Steve has been doing a peach pie taste test on our journey. This delicious peach pie is not a cooked pie.
It is made from peaches covered in a light glaze, piled high into a tasty crust. Whipped cream put the dessert over the top! Of course anything would score higher than the last peach pie that seemed to be lacking peaches. It was just a glaze with 7small slices of peach in the WHOLE pie. REALLY?!? So much for the expectation that the Amish would have fantiastic pies. So far, the Georgia Baked Peach Pie and Theo's Fresh Peach Pie are at the top of the list.
I thought I had found a new playmate but.....
Momma said, NO! The bunny was just a baby.
Baby or not, it made my heart pound as I quivered with excitement!!I'm Chloe
There's a wonderful ice cream shop in Cambridge.
