Lehman's General Store

August 2, 2021

Scenic Hills RV Park, Berlin, Ohio

I'm just lovin' these low 60's mornings as the sun creeps up over the horizon and the day begins.  I really feel invigorated when I take my morning walk.  What a way to begin a day!!  Dad is usually a whimp and snatches a jacket before we head out, which is probably a good thing. Otherwise, he would be rushing me back so he could stand in front of the fireplace.

Once again, I was left behind as the Ram traveled the country roads

Amish haystacks in the field
that are a tad on the narrow side, especially when you come up on a buggy or an Amish on their bicycle sharing the same road, but at a much slower speed.  With all the hills, you have to be very careful pulling out to pass them.

Today's destination was Kidron, Ohio to visit Lehman's.  This is a country store that began in 1955 with the goal of offering products to assist the Amish in a simpler life and has been pasted on thru the generations of family.  I believe it was originally a hardware store, but it has evolved into a general store offering items for the kitchen, laundry,

(So this old laundry ringer tub was just a display for the soaps....just one of the many antiques on display throughout the store to give it an interesting flare)

there were toys,
Checkers anyone?
 garden ornaments, lamps,
clothing

No, he didn't bring home a new hat!!

You can even purchase an up to date kitchen appliances with a retro look.

This stove would be perfect for a coke retro 50's kitchen.

And for that advid fisherman.  How about 'fishing' in the fire for a toasted mashmallow?

They told me there was even a pet section in the store, but you couldn't prove it by me.  No package arrived for me to open. I guess they are trying to convince me that there is such a thing as too many dog toys.

I'm Chloe
