Amish Country Ohio

 July 31, 2021

Scenic Hills RV Park, Berlin, Ohio

What can I say other than I've been laying around basking in the lush, green blades of grass that tickle my belly rather than blogging.

I guess you could say I'm following my Dad's lead who is basking in this marvelous weather in the mid 70's.
Last night he even slept under the light quilt AND the down comforter.  I guess that's what you do when you don't have a nice fur coat and the temps get down to 60 (it didn't make it to the predicted 50's).   I suppose turning on the heat is another option, but snuggling under the covers is nice once in a while.

Dad has been salivating for close to a week now.  The closer we got to Charm, Ohio and Keim, the more anxious he got.

I guess you could call this a high class Lowe's or Home Depot with a very full inventory all displayed with grace and charm.  When you look at the building itself, you get a glimmer of what's inside.  No ordinary, warehouse look here!

The created samples leave the guesswork out of looking at one piece and wondering what it would look like.

Did you say you wanted a new shower head?  Why not try them out on the display to see which you like best...yep, they are connected to water!!  Or walk through the bathroom displays....it feels like you are in the room.
And just check out all those tools.  Now that's a reason to salivate if you are into woodworking.  I guess it's a good thing we are in our rig with limited extra space so Dad can't buy the store out. But Dad does make use of the extra space behind the fireplace to store some of his purchased treasures.
Keim closed at noon today so it was off to the next stop.  I really want to know how those goats got on top of that roof!!  I know it is the the food that is delivered on that belt that keeps them there.

If you go to Hershberger's you can see it for yourself

while you are shopping for produce or some baked goods.

This is such a pretty area with flowers blooming

and the wash hanging on the line

You need to add Holmes County, Ohio to your bucket list of places to visit.  It has the largest population of Amish in Ohio.

Not everyone travels by buggy.  The Amish use bicycles as well but with all the challenging hills, most bikes have a motor to lend a hand on the steep inclines.  Those poor horses just have to put it in lower horse gear and keep on pulling.

I think it's a good thing I was born a dog.  I only have to challenge myself with chasing a ball or frisbee and using my best 'manners' around Momma and Dad's friends.....but I have to admit, sometimes manners are hard to keep when you get soooo excited with friends bringing dog treats....especially Auntie Carol.  As all my dog friends are aware, she ALWAYS has her pockets full of my favorite snacks.

I'm Chloe

  1. Did you find wineburger meats? Some of their sausages were at hersbergers, but a better selection at the actual store.
