Spring Vallley, CG, Cambridge, Ohio
Everyday brings new challenges and experiences. Some of those experiences will stay with you forever.....'remember the time when...' Today was an interesting day and our entry to this campground was not the norm for sure, but it may not make it to that never forget level, although it did make an impression on us.
We departed Berlin, Ohio around 11 as we only had about an hour to travel today to our new destination. We located our campground without any difficulty, following the turns called out by the GPS. Momma and Aunt Carol had gone into the office register and I didn't think they were ever coming back out. When they entered the office, they were greeted with....'we were just talking about you' The campground had two sites set aside for us but the catch was, one was 50 amp and one was 30 amp....and by the way....they are only water and electric. HUH??? Our reservations that were made in APRIL were for full hook-up, 50 amp sites. We had made a one night deposit at the full hook-up rate. Normally, it wouldn't have been too much of an issue to agree to use the dump station, but our departure from here will be our longest travel day of the summer and then to add the extra time of using the dump station, it just wasn't appealing, especially when we had made advanced reservations for full hook up and paid a deposit at that rate. The gal said normally, they would have lots of space but there is some sort of deer festival going on this weekend so they are booked up. She was searching the computer but wasn't finding anything else to offer us.
Momma and Aunt Carol decided to relay the situation to the guys who were patiently waiting, along with me. "Hey, let's get parked so I can check out the new smells and try out the grass!"
After analyzing and discussing, the decision had just been made to shorten our 3 night stay here when the gal from the office called to us and said she had phoned someone and was able to assign us two 50 amp full hook up sites, side by side. I guess it's a good thing we arrived early in the afternoon. I wonder who will be getting bumped to the spots they had tried to bump us to??
As Momma and Aunt Carol were heading back to the vehicles, a seasonal camper was just coming out of the laundry room and she was aware of what had transpired. She said that the office gal that they fired had really made a mess of bookings. She had small 30 amp trailers in the long 50 amp sites and huge class A's assigned to the too small 30 amp sites. She said, "I'm surprised they didn't fire her sooner. She really made a mess of the reservations!"
So as we settled into our 'home' for the next 3 nights, Uncle Steve got to use all his sewer hose once again.
At least there is a bit of downhill slope to assist in that LONG run.We will no longer be sharing the roads with the Amish bikes and buggies here in Cambridge, Ohio,
But we did bring along some smoked meat from that area to toss on the grill. Momma's sister had shared a tip about Winesburg Meats.
