Celtic Entertainment

July 13, 2019
Wayne County Fairground

I certainly have some moves and fancy steps but Momma says I have a new step to learn...Irish Step Dancing.

This dance team was entertaining on the stage under the tent at the Celtic Festival in Saline, Michigan.

Or rather than dancing to the fiddle and whistles, maybe I should try to learn to dance to the bagpipe tunes like these gals.

But what I really think I would excel at is herding the sheep.  These dogs were having too much fun at the sheep herding demo.

I know I could run as fast as they did.  I would just have to learn what the whistle patterns mean.

To get to the well organized festival, Dad had to park in the middle school parking lot where they hopped on the shuttle.
Yes, the shuttle was a school bus.  Adult legs are much longer than students so knees were pressed into the back of the seat in front of each person, but the ride was short and sweet.

There were plenty of people in Celtic dress....both working volunteers and attendees.

These gentlemen were competing in the ancient athletic games trying to toss that heavy ball with a handle over their shoulder high enough to go over the bar.

There was also jousting, hatchet throwing, bow and arrow, etc. not to mention spinning, weaving and merchant tents.

Momma said thank goodness there was a breeze as the sun was shining brightly heating up Mill Pond Park where the festival was being held.

Now me, I was cool as a cucumber back at the rig basking in the AC.

I'm Chloe
