The unexpected happens

White Oak CG site 10

Quarryville, PA

Momma said she came to the conclusion that you need to be part goat to survive at our overnight campground Shady Rest.

With all the hills and uneven ground, it is the best way to survive.  Just looking at the steep downgrade on the exit road is intimidating.

We had plans to depart at 9:45 this morning, but one of Pam's tires altered that plan.  She had a flat on her fifth wheel.  Due to the uneven site, it was decided that the best....level...ground was actually the roadway in the campground so.....

That became the staging area for the tire swap.
So blessed to be in a campground and not on the side of the highway!!

We weren't on any schedule, so we just took our time getting everything squared away before departing the campground and heading southwest.

The color was delightful, especially in the Pocono Mountain area.  Unfortunately for you, the pictures aren't quite as enchanting as the view first hand.

Have you ever traveled a highway that left a lasting impression due to the smooth ride, letting you glide along without a care.  Well, we didn't locate one of those roads on today's journey, but we did travel on a VERY impressionable section of road during part of our trip....Hwy 222.  OMG.  It unsettled everything....even ME as I was trying to nap in the backseat.  Dad swapped over to the outter lane which was a small improvement.  At least I was no longer bouncing off my fluffy bed.  Beware Momma when you open those cupboard doors!

First impressions are very positive for White Oak Campground

Communication before our arrival was excellent and informative.  Our check in was smooth and very organized.  Yes, this campground was actually expecting us and had our welcome packet ready to hand to us.  A complete 180 from our last stop!  Pam is a couple of sites away from us, as the campground didn't have two sites together when we made our reservations due to all the Columbus weekend bookings.  A member of the staff spotted for her as she backed into her site.  She told him to have patience with her backing skills, and then zipped right into her site in one smooth move.  Needless to say, the guy was impressed.  She told him she had a great teacher. How about a cheer for teacher Dad and student Pam!!

We have a 30amp hook up here, but with this cooler fall weather, it shouldn't be an issue at all.  No AC needed.  Just some heat at night as the temperature creeps down into the 50's.

I'm really wondering if you would call this a good thing .....or a bad thing, as it could become a daily event.   Two miles down the road is

As soon as the two-legged were set up, they headed for the farm to visit the cafe.

Hand dipped ice cream and even soups were available.

So many flavors to choose from.  Once the decision has been made, you can choose to sit on the porch or in the yard or purchase one of the many items for sale, including these cute aprons for your child.
With buggies and carriages sharing the roads, we are definitely in Amish country.

Looking forward to being in this area for the next 5 nights.

I'm Chloe
