American Heritage CG site 83
Williamsburg, Virginia
Today Momma and Dad departed wearing jackets and each carrying a second jacket. The thermometer was only registering in the 50's ...but it was still early with time for the temp to climb a tad. But the plan for the day was to be out on the water, exploring the largest naval base from the Victory Rover...a narrated boat tour.
So glad they sold hot coffee and hot chocolate on board |
The tour began in the bay with several ships in dry dock.
When we returned to the bay, one of the ships was on it's way to the naval base, being escorted/guided by a couple of tugs.Check out the guns on this ship.At the naval base, there were ships with many purposes docked at the numerous piers. Our captain shared so many facts about each ship, we quickly reached overload of info. We wondered if he had all that info memorized or if he was working off cheat sheets. This ship was like a floating 'walmart' as it carries supplies to the ships out at sea.
Another pier had aircraft carriers tied up.
If you look closely, you can just make out the top of the submarine that is resting at the pier.It was quite an informative tour....and we even gathered info on a great place to eat when we inquired.
The No Frill Grill didn't really live up to it's name in Momma's opinion....with lacey doilies under the dishes and delicious seasonings....a bit of frill for sure!!

Momma mentioned that I probably should leave out the results of the Hand and Foot game that ended the day. Something about not needing to announce that the gals had a serious loss at the end of the game. Hey gals, it's only a game😏
