Large can be overwhelming

 October 9-10, 2024

White Oaks CG site 10

Quarryville, Pa

So far we have been the only camper on our row,

but I know as the weekend approaches, the sites will begin to fill up.  We have an enchanting, restful view from our site that looks out over the farmland.

That grassy area is ideal for ball chasing, but I know that will come to a screeching halt once we have neighbors....especially if they arrive with 4 legged members in their family.

You can hear the clip clop of horse hooves as a buggy approaches on the country road.

We had company arrive...and of course I convinced Doc to toss my indoor ball for me while he was chatting with Dad and Momma.  He and his wife reside in Ephrata, nearby.  They met Doc in 2014 at the first Open Range rally they attended and have enjoyed a friendship over the years.  He dropped by to invite the two-legged to breakfast Thursday morning at Shady Maple

Dad said there were so many items to choose from on display, that there is no way anyone could sample half of what was offered...even if they were a BIG breakfast eater.
There was an area for meats which went beyond the typical bacon, sausage, ham and offered corned beef hash, scrapple, mush and sausage gravy, etc.  There was another section with numerous fruits, another with egg dishes as well as French toast and a baked French toast, waffles, potatoes prepared in numerous ways.  The section of donuts and pastries was loaded with variety.  And then there was the 'fresh off the grill' area for pancakes, eggs, omelettes, etc. made to order by the chef.

Momma said it took longer to decide what to eat than it did to actually eat what she finally chose to put on her plate.  It was a tad overwhelming.

All that took place on the upstairs level.  The downstairs area was just as overwhelming.....a huge gift shop, offering a wide selection of items that also took quite a bit of time to browse.

I guess this whole area believes in going large.  Doc mentioned a hardware store that he knew Dad would enjoy housed in a huge building...so large Momma would have had to use panorama view to capture the whole building in a photo.

As Doc said, 'If you they don't have it, you really didn't need it."

Looking for zip ties?  Check out this offering.

Would you believe they are almost as long as Pam is tall?

Have you ever seen a spray can of this size?
It comes close to being double your typical size for those big jobs.  Needless to say, Dad was pleased to locate a couple of items to bring home.

I guess we won't be the only campers in the row any longer.  A couple more have arived today.  As Dad was parking his truck after being out and about today, a gal with a medium sized travel trailer was struggling to back into a site and called out for some assistance which Dad readily supplied.  She is traveling with a sweet Golden Retriever.  I guess that means my days of ball chasing have ended...as it is time to follow the leash rule and set a good example.   Oh well, I sure enjoyed running after my ball while no one was around.

I'm Chloe
