Well, today is the day of Pam's High School Reunion when the Canajoharie High School Class of 74 will gather, trying to recognize classmates after 50 years of post high school life. They have already held some social activities for the classmates returning to the area for the 'big' event/reunion.
Yesterday was a grand day for us. We were blessed with a visit from daughter-in-law, Jill and granddaughter, Emily. No, they didn't fly north from Florida just to see us. They ventured north for a week stay to experience some fall color as well as a visit with Jill's sister, brother and high school girlfriend. But the timing was right for a hookup visit with us. How sweet!! 💕
Yesterday was definitely a warm soup day for lunch. Momma woke up, looked at the ceiling and rubbed her eyes to refocus. Yep, that first digit was a 4...and that wasn't for the hour...it was for the temperature. 49 Brrr. But by mid afternoon it was 75 and the sun was shining so Dad lowered the tailgate, hooked the hose to the outside shower, tempered the water, and the 'dog spa' was open for business. Tubby time for me.
After enjoying a good sized lunch, Momma and Dad hooked up with Kathy and Bob for one of their famous...dessert for dinner meals. Banana splits for Bob and Dad. As Dad says, it has all the food groups. Momma, I don't think your small cup of ice cream is as balanced a meal as Dad claims his is.
I was pleased when they arrived with a bag of my dog food. Things were looking pretty slim with only two servings left in the camper...and I'm sure they wouldn't serve ME a banana split dinner!
Now today began almost the same way, but the temp stayed in the 50's overnight. By the time everyone headed to the orchard this morning, only a light jacket was needed, which everyone got to shed by afternoon.
Sand Flats Orchard had the donut machine in full operation.
Dad decided it might be a wise idea to see if they were as tasty as the last time we visited.
Yummy, and just right for maximum enjoyment as they were still warm.
There were still lots of pumpkins available at the orchard, just waiting to be carved or possibly become a pie.
Two more nights (one day left) here before we move on, so it was important to stock up on cider and apples before heading into Pennslyvania. This orchard sells their apple varieties by the bag full or you can grab a variety baking mixture bag. Momma brought home both types of bags. She's got the fresh eating as well as baking covered.
Bob and Kathy arrived for dinner and a game of Hand and Foot. It was an interesting game that kept changing leads with the guys a head after the first round. At the end of the last round, the gals came out on top. Maybe it was the distraction of the apple pie eaten before the last round that influenced the outcome. I know it wasn't playing with me as they were much too involved in their game to even give me any attention at all.
I'm Chloe
