Still in West Memphis, Arkansas

 July 4, 2022

Tom Sawyer RV

West Memphis, Arkansas

Momma told me that there would be no baking at this campground.  Our site isn't shaded

and the daytime temps have been in the 90's so the AC units are getting a workout.  But the real issue is the low voltage on one leg....the leg that the micro/convection oven is on.  The voltage has dipped down to 107.   Momma has been playing turn off one device in order to turn on another... and it's the front AC that gets turned off to allow her to warm up/micro the maple syrup for morning breakfast or....whatever.

Honestly, this park has a lot of potential but the TLC is lacking here.  We have a nice wide concrete pad large enough of our rig and a patio area but the first thing we had to do upon arrival was dig out the broom and clean it off... loaded with small rocks/gravel and debris.  The picnic table hasn't been moved for the last few mowings so the grass is approaching calf deep length.

Quite honestly, the whole campground could use mowing, but then again, the wild flowers are pretty.

Interior roads are limerock here which means dust.  We had considered leaving the windows in the Ram down a bit to cut down on some of the heat build up but we decided we would rather have the heat than all that road dust inside the truck.

It seems there must be a high demand for whatever the barges are delivering because they didn't take a holiday on the 4th.  There were just as many barges as any other day chugging up and down the river.

But Momma and Dad didn't hang around to watch the barges all day.  They headed over the bridge into Memphis to visit the pyramid

With indoor pools of water, home to some large sized fish, a huge collection of merchandise and lodging/rooms to rent, it is a massive structure.

Designed to give you the appearance of being in the outdoors while actually being under roof in a climate controled environment.

We were surprised by the number of rigs that departed and hit the road on the 4th.  On one side, we have had a daily change of neighbors, but there have been many guests who have stayed for the weekend.  And yes, you could have joined us as they still had a few vacant sites.  We won't depart until Wednesday.  The thinking is, less traffic on the road.  We'll let you know how that works out.

I'm Chloe
