Tom Sawyer RV
West Memphis, Arkansas
Longer than usual (for us) travel day. Just under 300 miles from Clarksville, Tn to West Memphis, Ar. I had a nice long nap until we landed at Tom Sawyer RV. This campground is still practicing limited contact upon check-in. Momma thinks they just liked doing it that way so they are continuing. This way they don't have to have someone at the office all the time. You receive a phone call the day of your arrival to take care of your site fees. They use a board with pockets holding sealed envelopes for each arriving rig. Self-serve arrival. The enclosed map is marked to help guide you to your site, but the park signage is well done as well to assist in a smooth landing.
Our site is in the row closest to the Mississippi River so we can watch the barges being pushed up and down the river from our dining table window or our back window.
The barges appear to be loaded with gravel....4 barges wide and 6 barges long all gathered together for the tug to push along the way.
If you look closely, you can see that that the water level appears to be low right now, but the banks do flood occassionaly and they have had to close the park.
The temperature is in the low 90's but there is a nice breeze making it comfortable for sitting under the awning and watching the river action.
That is when we aren't playing ballCome on Dad, let's toss a few....just a few times though....as it is hot in the sun and I might just trip over my tongue.I'm Chloe
