Day 3 in Georgia
Sugar Mill RV Park
Oh man, oh man! I really don't know what happened. I guess I have to admit guilt. I think it was temporary insanity. Yep, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!! There really wasn't any harm done. Momma was able to wash the mud and gunk out of Dad's pants. And Dad was able to rinse the mud and gunk off of me......that's after he got his breath back.
You see, just as Dad was changing me over from my lead to my rope. I looked way over by the pond and saw a whole gaggle of geese. Now I'm a natural born herder. It's in my blood. And that gaggle of geese looked like they needed herding so I raced across the RV park, cutting across the unused sites, the interior roads, past the clubhouse and I began what I was born to do.....herd that group of geese who were in the muddy area by the pond. Momma was inside that clubhouse playing a game of Fast Track when Janet said, "I think I just saw Roger race by." And Bruce confirmed...it was indeed my Dad. "And he's not jogging. He's racing!!" That was when Momma went over to look out the window and saw the geese trying to scatter. And as Dad tells the story, "Those geese didn't take flight. They ran. And so Chloe ran right after them. If only they had taken flight, that would have been the end of it but..... And she could have used the bridge instead of flying thru the muddy river." I was so focused on the task at hand, I didn't even hear Dad calling to me.
When I was FINALLY back by Dad's side, I said to him, "Now that was sure fun." Unfortunately, Dad didn't agree. He scolded me the whole way back to our campsite, all the while he was cleaning me up and then he just ignored me.
When Momma returned to the rig, I immediately tried to explain to her my side of the story, but Dad convinced her I was a naughty girl. What a day!!
Shortly after that they left me to my own thoughts while they hopped in the Ram and headed to Pebble Hill Plantation for a tour of a 1936 plantation that has been turned into a museum plus a venu for weddings and gatherings.
I say 1936 because our Tour Guide Lori told us that was when the reconstruction after the fire was finished. Part of the house has a bit more age than 1936. It is definitely an antebellum mansion complete with servant work areas, tapestry pulls to request service and high, lofty ceiling with plenty of molding and three dimensional features to the walls. Numerous rooms, fireplaces and bathrooms throughout. It was a sought after place to work not just for the pay, but for the housing on the property provided to the workers as well as education provided for the children. There were even positions to fill in the stables with the horses as well as with the numerous hunting dogs that they trained and cared for. Quail hunting was popular. They also had a milking dairy that has been renovated into the visitor center for the plantation.
Dinner at Jonah's Fish and Grits was enjoyed followed by a game of Five Crown to finish off the night.
Another great day spent in Georgia with good friends.
I'm Chloe
