March in Georgia

Day One in Georgia

Sugar Mill RV,  Thomasville

Yea!!  We're back on the road again....and we have brought friends with us.  Well, actually, if you want to get technical about it, we all traveled our own routes arriving throughout the day.   I think Momma had everyone worried because we were the LAST rig to pull in today.  Yes, that's unusual for us because I usually get them loaded up and going early.  Everyone was beginning to wonder where we were as they were all settled in and we hadn't even crossed the Florida/Georgia border.  But that part of the tale is yet to be told.

Arriving at 2:22 was ideal for us.  We were greeted with waving arms directing us to our site by our very own parking crew/our camping friends.

We were set up and ready to gather for a social hour which turned into 2 hours.  So much catching up to do, news to share, pictures to share!

And I got to see my friend Sue who was walking with her 'Dad', Bob.  She's so pretty and BIG.  Well, I guess all Great Danes are large.
Dad even found time to toss my jug for me so I could stretch out my legs bit after the long ride.

What a lovely site, parked amongst the azealas and pine trees....oh yes, and loads of pollen.  Ahhhchoo
We even have use of a lovely clubhouse while enjoying our stay at Sugar Mill RV Park....well, the two-legged do.

I don't mind guarding our sleeping quarters while I nap.

Mickey graciously offered to open his wallet and treat everyone to first night dinner.  Ooops!!  I guess that won't happen with an empty pocket.  No fear, he has arranged to have his wallet sent to him.

Dale said, "What was that?  I didn't quite catch all that.  You turned your head and I couldn't read your lips.  It seems I failed to bring my hearing aids."

Dad even got to join the "I forgot it" club when he couldn't locate his missing phone charger that ALWAYS stays plugged in the rig.  But alas, the cord hanger was empty.  At least he blamed it on those pesky Leprachauns and not me😅

Now as to why we arrived mid afternoon, it was a more laid back morning than we had anticipated.  I didn't wake Momma until 7:30 and told her to shake it as I had all my gear packed.  After a quick breakfast, Dad had to make a garbage run because the dump isn't open on Tuesdays.  But we really weren't in any hurry to shove off.  So no problem.  But when Dad got into the truck, there was so much pollen he could barely even see out the windshield.  Time for a quick wash job.  But we really weren't in any hurry to shove off.  So no problem.  Then Momma had promised everyone a cake and ice cream welcome event.  The ice cream had already been churned and was in the freezer.  The cake...well it turned out to be quite a project as it took most of the day on Tuesday to create.  Momma started at 7:30 making the coffee to put into the cake.  Of course that had to cool.  Then there was the filling to make which also was a multi-step process involving heat and cooling.  Even the frosting was a heat and cool event. I offered to lick out those dripping in chocolate bowls and pans for her but she just looked at me like I'd lost my mind.  I figured it would be a good 'service dog' task.

Needless to say, it was late in the day by the time the 'masterpiece' was completed and it was ready to be refridgerated

in the cake carrier....which was just a tad too short.  No problem, it'll just help stablize the layers, making it a bit compact.  Aunt Janice and Uncle Robin came over for dinner so Momma just shoved the cake in the house refrigerator to load in the camper refrigerator in the morning.  Ooops!  Now Dad probably would have measured the cake carrier to make sure it would fit. Momma didn't.   And the hard plastic isn't something with any give in it to allow the door to close so.......Dad had to create a special, made to order, cake cover that was the diameter of the cake plate, yet tall enough for the cake height.

But we really weren't in any hurry to shove off.  So no problem.

Needless to say, when you don't depart until late morning, you aren't the first to arrive.  But this is a laid back trip so we started off in that laid back mindset and we are having a laid back adventure with a great group of friends.  Six rigs so far and two more due to arrive on Friday.

I'm Chloe
