Deer Run CG site 62
Troy, Alabama
Momma put up a fierce, time consuming, battle today. It was the culminating, final round of the 3 days of skirmishes....and I'm sorry to report, although she gave it her 'all', she lost the battle and finally had to admit it is a battle she can't win. The picture will confirm it.
Can you see what I mean? This shot was taken today, on July 25...not June 15. The wall clock is just another of the many items that seem to be 'acting up' on this trip.To set the clock, the mode button is pressed to cycle through the various settings.....language, time zone, DS on/off, hour, minutes, seconds, year and then failure to cycle into month and date....everytime!!
That settles it. It is truly a 'senior clock'. Seniors have been advised to do mind challenges and games to keep sharp. Well, in order to properly read this wall clock's date, a mathematical calculation is needed. Increase the month by one and add 10 to the date. Of course when the clock registers July 1 in 16 days, the calculations will change as there are only 30 days in June and 31 in July. Yes, this wall clock will definitely keep the mind working to come up with the correct date. At least the day of the week is correct which makes it easy to grab the right day's pills from the pill holder.
Dad fought his own battle today, although his battle only took a second before he admitted defeat. You see, the campground calls our site #62, but we have renamed it 'the goat hill site'. We are parked on a concrete pad that is JUST wide enough (if you park with the driver side tires half on the concrete and half on grass) to allow you to step off the stairs on concrete rather then rolling down the pretty steep, grassy hill.
And by putting the back jacks on the very edge of the concrete and backing the truck as close to the campers as possible, you can enter and exit the truck on concrete rather than the mud hole.Well, Dad found out if you depend on the truck's audible signal (which failed to sound) to alert you that it is time to stop, you wind up in a battle with the pinbox attached to the front of the camper. Ouch!!
What is it with this trip? There have been way too many glitches and challenges.
We will have to take on a whole new challenge when it is time for departure from our 'pull through, goat hill' site. Just check out the exit route.
Dad has already made the decision not to even attempt the downhill, rutted out exit. Looks like we will be attempting a back out exit to this site. We are definitely making memories this trip... and not all of them are currently putting a smile on our faces. I'm sure as time passes and we look back on this trip, we'll be able to laugh at all the experiences...even the one that that caused the dent.
But not all of our experiences have made us frown. Dinner tonight was excellent, as was the service!! When we checked in, Momma asked the gal in the office what her favorite 'hole in the wall' (non-chain) restaurant is. We tried out her response tonight - Baumhower's.
But sadly, that take out box went straight into the refridgerator without even giving me chance at a sniff, much less a taste. Hey, I can be a good food critic!!
I'm Chloe
