Presque Isle Passage RV site 27'
Erie, Pa
It's a drizzly, cool 66 degree morning so Momma decided it was a great time to do some 'catch up' while enjoying the heat from fireplace, which led to the pic taken on Dad's phone that she had totally forgotten about. It was taken when we were back in the Amish area of Berlin, Ohio at Troyer's Market.
Momma, how could you forget such an impressive, cool experience? Okay, so the pineapple isn't as sweet as it could have been and it got pushed to the back of the refrigerator, but you have to admit, that machine was so cool. What machine you ask? I'm not sure what it is called,
but it will take a pineapple, complete with the green top,and in a matter of seconds strip it, core it and plop it in a container ready for a lid with the press of a button.Momma and Dad just had to see it in operation, so even though the pineapples were a tad green, they purchased one to see this machine in action. The process was so quick, they were tempted to purchase a second one to see it a second time! It was like taking a self guided tour exploring this never before seen machine.
Now think about this, here we were in the land of the Amish where life is lived simplistically, in a store named Troyer, a typical Amish name and low and behold, here is a modern, automated machine for pineapples no less. Just the push of a button is all that is needed.
I told Momma that they probably have a machine like this hidden in the back recesses of our chain supermarkets that the employees only get to operate? How else would they be able to offer those perfectly round, cored pineapples all packaged for sale? Use a labor intensive corer/peeler? Only those in the back rooms of the market know the true story of what goes on behind the scenes.
I'm sure pineapple sales would increase with an available machine drawing the curiosity of produce shoppers. Momma and Dad can't be the only people to get pulled into a purchase. And fresh pineapple sure beats the canned offerings...that is, if that fresh pineapple is ripe.
Now me, I'd much prefer something a bit meatier.
I'm Chloe
