Still at home
So I have had a few inquiries as to why I haven't been posting any news. It's a two fold situation: 1) Momma has been hogging the computer using RV Trip Wizard, Campground Reviews and campground websites, etc planning our trip and 2) I have been too busy romping and stomping around the house (off lead of course)
Yes, we are typically on the road by now enjoying May in states other than Florida with cooler temps but with the weather challenges people have been experiences lately, the Florida heat has become VERY agreeable to us when you consider the alternatives. I mean, just take a look at what our neighbors Tim and Julie encountered in Custer, South Dakota.
Truthfully, May has been busy for us. We kicked off the month with a 'project' for Dad to make Momma smile and of course we all know when Momma is happy, then...... It seems the convection microwave in the 5th wheel decided to take a bit of a vacation. It lost power. Dad did some trouble shooting and had it working...until Momma went to use it. All it took was shutting the door for the power to go out. Go figure...a short?? Luckily, RV Upgrades ships quickly and the new unit arrived before our departure to Okeechobee for the Good Sam State Rally at the beginning of the month.
Now inquiring minds want to know where the 'short' was located in the convection/micro so some investigation was necessary.
The next project was the awning motor that was becoming temperamental. "I'll work when I want to." It was kind of like tossing the dice. So.....a new motor with a better work ethic was installed by Dad.
Then there was the re-plumbing of the water softener in the rig. As long as Dad had the softener out to change out the resin, he decided to do an upgrade on the plumbing.
And of course there was all the pre-trip maintenance - repacking the wheel bearings, bleeding the brakes, wash and wax and the list goes on. I tried my best to help Dad, especially when he was laying on the creeper under the rig. I would get out of the pond dripping wet and lay on his chest. "What do you mean you don't appreciate all my help? If we get this job knocked out, we can go play Frisbee. Come on Dad!! Yeah, I know I'm soaking wet. Now you are too!!"
Momma picked a couple of buckets of blueberries. I'm not sure if I like blueberries or not as she hasn't shared any with me. They don't share ANY people food with me but....I have to confess. One day, Momma was in the kitchen making cookies. A glob of dough hit the floor and before you could bat an eye, I volunteered for clean up. Wow!! That was sure a tasty tidbit. It was soooo tasty that while Momma had her head in the oven, I raised myself up, rested my paws on the counter and stretched my neck and my tongue to that paper holding all those round peanut butter balls waiting for their turn on the cookie sheet. It was a long stretch but well worth it for that lip smacking treat. Needless to say, I got caught when Momma turned around but I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Dad likes his peanut butter cookies baked, but I was thrilled with pre-baked. Yum!!
Not every activity this month involved work. After all, Dad deserves a break once in while and a celebratory treat.
Speaking of celebrations, granddaughter, Emily graduated with high honors from middle school and everyone but me got to attend the ceremony. I have to admit, they sure are one great looking family!!
Next year will be Nathan's ceremony as he will be a high school senior.
Well, the final countdown is upon us. As soon as all the Memorial Weekend Warriors are off the highways, we will hit the road in a northerly direction. Tuesday morning is blast off day!!
