F D Roosevelt State Park, Ga
I was getting so excited as I watched Momma and Dad making trips from the house to the rig with their arms loaded. When I saw that some of the armload included food, I knew it wouldn't be long before we would hitch up and begin a new adventure. Road Trip Time!!!
We didn't depart until Saturday morning and we didn't travel very far before we made our first stop of the day. Ahhh that's because we were meeting some of our friends. A couple of rigs to travel with as we headed for Tallahassee where we would spend the night and join another rig and my favorite aunt...Auntie Carol. She ALWAYS has goodies and a kind word for me!!
Our first night was fantastic. We were parked at the fairgrounds with lots of open land to play ball which felt fantastic after riding for several hours. It was sooo good to stretch out and try to snatch the high ball from the air.
The next day we hitched up and headed further north to F D Roosevelt State Park in Pine Mountain, Ga where our neighbors from home, Tim and Julie were waiting for us. Parking was interesting. When we reached our loop, the posted sign read one way but the map with the bold marker directions from the Ranger indicated that we should turn into the loop from the wrong way. Now, surely the Ranger knows best. Well, as soon as we made the turn, a gentleman came running out flagging us down. "This is a one way loop. You can't continue." Then we showed him our map. Well, he said, "I'll help you back up and I'll call the registration office and make sure the 'new gal' who drew the wrong directions on the map is educated." And that was our 'bold' arrival and our greeting from the Campground Host. As we continued around the loop in the 'proper' direction following the narrow road that wound around the trees, it became apparent that this loop is what fellow RVers refer to as 'a bit tight'. Twisting and turning on a narrow road with sharp dropoffs assured close attention by the driver if success was to be had. Needless to say, our experienced group settled in without mishap.
Well, this is when things began to get a tad frustrating. We got set up and everyone gathered down a couple of sites at Carolyn's and Jerry's for a shared dinner and lots of chatting while I was left home alone. But then I just knew things would take a turn for the better when all those people kept arriving at our rig. Oh boy, lots of playmates. WHAT...you're hands are full of cards. Now how can you possibly play with me when you are gaming? So I made a nuisance of myself according to Momma until she gave me a big bone to rip the knot off of. I was frustrated but I do like knots to unravel....but playing is my first love.
Now let me tell you, Sunday my frustration increased. It all started out well with Dad tossing the pig inside our rig. It was fun even though I really couldn't stretch out and get up any speed. Then they took off for the rest of the day. Something about breakfast at the Country Kitchen
and then a trip into Callaway Gardens
Setting up for the group shot
. They sure made the day of it. Flowers
, butterflies
chapel
and a bird of prey
show kept them busy while I rested up for their return.
Okay Dad, I'm ready to head outdoors. Don't you think our little walk should have been longer? What do you mean you are gathering at the neighbor's site and running off again?
Shortly after they returned to the Fiver, Carolyn was the first to arrive at our door. I think she loves to play toss the toy as much as I do, but by the time the rest of the 'gamers' arrived, all attention was given to hands full of cards with no attention left over for me. I really tried too. I went from one person to the next trying to tell them I was ready to play but all that did was frustrate Momma and Dad. Well, jeeze guys, I'm only a kid after all and being the center of attention and playing are at the top of my list of fun time activities.
As I finally 'crashed' at 10:37pm, I heard Momma breath a sigh of relief that I was finally 'out for the night'. As they say, kids(puppies) can be a handful...especially when they full of pent up energy that needs to be released.
And it can be frustrating not be able to reach my goal of a day of play from dawn to dusk!!
I'm Chloe
