Caravan to Georgia

 March 21-22, 2022

Caravan to Georgia Rally

I didn't have a calendar to check, but I could tell by all the trips to the RV that it was getting close to travel time....it was just days away for sure.  Momma was baking up a storm to stock the freezer with coffee break snacks as well as freezing a few meals for those days when a quick meal would be needed.

I definitely did my part in helping out.  I had been smelling garlic and onions frying in preparation for meatballs to go with the stuffed shells.  It's really difficult to tell if there is the right amount of cheese and spices in the meatballs just by smell so.....I took advantage of a moment when Momma's back was turned to taste test the meatballs that had been browned and were waiting to go into the oven to finish cooking.  Now granted, I only had a chance to snatch half a meatball as Momma had only turned her back on me and the meatballs for a quick moment, but I can definitely assure you, that would be a pan of delicious meatballs!

Monday morning arrived and both Momma and Dad headed out in a vehicle for 8:30 appointments.  It's a good thing the locations were close by and the interaction with the doctors was swift because by 9 am we had the wheels rolling, leading the way with our neighbors, Tim and Julie following behind us.  It just doesn't get any better.  The weather was picture perfect and the traffic cooperated for the most part.  I say for the most part because there are always a couple of inconsiderate souls behind the wheel who zip past you on the left only to cut you off to make an exit ramp on the right.  Dad just calls it a 'brake check caused by a fool on the road' experience.  "Don't forget to check for shifting of the load and displaced items in the cupboards when we arrive, Dad."

Our destination was Twin Oaks Resort in Elko, Georgia where we would join up with our Golden Triangle Sams friends...8 rigs in total.  You see, the secret to parking together at the Georgia State Good Sam Rally at the Fairgrounds in Perry, Georgia is to arrive together.  And the only way to assure 50 amp service is to arrive early....and we did!

After enjoying a Monday afternoon of drinks, snacks and conversation sitting together as a group at Twin Oaks,

we all hooked up early the next morning to head up the road about 10 miles to enter the fairgrounds.

Mission accomplished.  We are parked close to the buildings where all the activities will take place

All nestled close to one another.

A great way to take advantage of the early bird entry day was a morning of labor and lots of head scratching as the guys tried to trouble shoot Steve and Carol's slide issue

followed up with an afternoon trip to Hawkinsville to a great meat market

including a side trip to Dairy Queen on the way back.

Everyone enjoyed grilled meat....well, everyone but me.  What did I get?  The same old dog food that I have been served day after day.  I do like a change of tastes once in a while you know.  That's why I raid the counter for meatballs and such.  Yummy!!

I really enjoyed evening social time today.  Auntie Carol has a soft spot for me and shared some 'accidental' falling crumbs from her plate with me.  She's the best aunt in the whole world!!  She understands me and my taste bud cravings.

Don't you know she REALLY loves me....well, I do have to share her with the other 4 legged in our group ...but, I just KNOW I'm her favorite!!

What a great group of friends to share time with.

Yep, this adventure is off to a great beginning!!

I'm Chloe
