Murbles

 March 29-30, 2022

Gunter Hill CG

Montgomery, Al

I'm so glad my friend Sue is with us on this trip.

She is the best playmate a dog could have. Even though she may look big, she is just as gentle with me as Momma is handling eggs.

The two-legged decided to get a game of Murbles going.  No, that is not a typo.  The balls look like giant marbles but are solid plastic balls that aren't quite as heavy as botchie balls.  The game is played similar to botchie but with some twists on the botchie rules.  The goal is to get your Murbles closer to the white jack ball than your opponent's Murbles.
After all the Murbles are put in play, you have to pick them up for the next round.

Someone suggested that we needed a Murble pick up stick, similar to my chuckit ball stick so you don't have to bend over too far.  Someone else suggested that the Murbles were just the right size for Sue to pick up, but she was settled in on her mother's lap.

Then Aunt Carol reminded everyone that the bending over exercise was good for everyone.  Especially after the dinner everyone enjoyed last night.

The gang headed out to a place Reba and Bob recommended.....Catfish House.
If the  number of cars in the parking lot is a good indicator of good food, everyone knew they were in for a delightful meal. It's a good thing reservations had been made.

As everyone pulled their chair up to the  l o n g   table, the feast immediately began with metal baskets of warm hush puppies,  bowls of cole slaw and  pots of northern beans to share.  They kept the goodies refilled before and during the meal.  No wonder everyone had a full belly.

Now as if that wasn't enough to satisfy an empty stomach, Bob's family had baked a Sunshine Cake to share around the campfire.
It's a good thing happy hour earlier that day didn't include food or everyone would have been bursting at the seams.  Instead, the girls took a walk down to the lake and enjoyed the scenery.
Tomorrrow, the last day in March, we will relocate, traveling to another campground near Demopolis, Alabama.

Perfect weather for outdoor adventures

 March 28, 2022

Gunter Hill CG

Montgomery, Al

It was MY day to play and play and play and.....finally rest.  The outside friendly weather meant everyone was outside, including me.  The two-legged came over to visit and I coaxed a few to toss my jug and ball.

Then my four-legged friends stopped by to play...and that's exactly what we did.  I showed them how fast I could run.  Even long-legged Sue, the great dane couldn't catch me.

Of course, short legged Izzy didn't have a chance of keeping up.
Her Dad had to carry her back.

The evening meal was cooked over the coals.  Baked potatoes and Dutch Oven Dump Cake.

The potato bar, loaded with a variety of toppings, allowed everyone to create a scrumptious, stomach-filling masterpiece.

Yep, all the two legged enjoyed a feast.

that was finished off with dump cake and ice cream.
And then there was my dinner of ho-hum, same old crunchy dog food.  Oh well, at least I don't have to worry about packing on extra pounds with all that tempting food.  I need to stay slim and trim so I can run and chase my ball.  A good game of ball is what I live for!!

Travel Day

March 27, 2022

Gunter Hill COE Campground

Montgomery, Al

After a laid back, casual pack up and departure, no need to rush as we will travel into Central Time, and an easy 180 mile pull, we landed at Gunter Hill Campground just on the outskirts of Montgomery, Alabama.

Everyone got set up and greeted two couples who have joined our adventure during a social hour at 3:30...Humphrey's and Lundmark's.

There are now 11 rigs camping together.   More good times in store for us!!

The evening campfire brought out the hotdogs for some and of course the mashmallows.

This group sure knows how to build a dandy fire.

Good times in Alabama!

Final Rally Day

 March 26, 2022

Georgia Good Sam State Rally

Perry, Ga

What's all this talk about departure time tomorrow?  It feels like we just arrived!!  Today is the last rally day and then it's wheels rolling for the GTS caravan as we all move to a new location.  The adventure has just begun.

Of course we have left our mark on this rally as the Golden Triangle Sams bean bag baseball team took home a second place win.

Yep, GTS had winners in every game at the rally.  Bring home the plastic (winner's badge).  Go TEAM!!

The nightly entertainment was.....well....let's just politely say they did their best.  That was okay by me because that gave me more time with Momma and Dad as they danced out the door each night before the entertainment ended and came back to snuggle with me.  Momma said the highlight of the evening was the popcorn they were offering to the attendees.  You all know she LOVES popcorn!!

I wonder if all this wind will be with us tomorrow on travel day.  We could take advantage of a good tailwind but the direction it has been blowing, we'll be fighting a head wind.  We'll see what tomorrow brings our  way.

Go team!!

 March 25, 2022

Georgia Good Sam State Rally

Perry, GA

More plastic was earned today.  I'm sure the players were hoping for a bit more then a plastic pin stating 2nd place winner for Baggo....such as a nice check or even a gallon or two of fuel which has become as expensive as gold!!  Congrats on the win Steve and Mickey.

What's Baggo you ask?  Some people know the game as Corn Hole.  It is basically tossing bean bags at a platform with the goal of the bag sliding into the hole on the platform.

Sometimes a bit of body language adds an assist.

I was beginning to wonder if they were ever coming back to the rig (I love attention you know) when Dad appeared for a coffee break with me.  I LOVE coffee breaks because it always involves mini dog bone treats.  Dad said Momma wouldn't be back for a while as she was at the Pampered Chef Seminar with the rest of the gals.

After the ice cream social, some of the men headed to Warner Robbins Air Museum

while Steve H and the gals kept me company.  The only problem was, they were so involved with their Fast Track Game, they pretty much ignored me so I just cuddled up at their feet
waiting for their game to end and my game of ball catch to begin.

A complaint

 March 24, 2022

Georgia Good Sam Rally

Perry, GA

I have to register a complaint.  The restaurants in this area serve food that is absolutely delicious.  Today it was The Swanson, an old Victorian House that served a southern fare that once again had everyone cleaning their plates.  Do you know what that means?  NO DOGGY BAG for me!!  I didn't even get a smell of that delicious chicken and dumplings dish.

Nor any of the other scrumptious dishes that the other tablemates enjoyed. I'm hanging my head low and so very sad it makes me depressed.  It's a good thing Dad came home and played ball with me.

I was afraid he would be too tired to play with me after 4 rounds of washer toss.  Why four rounds?  Because he and his teammate Jan kept winning....all the way to the #1 position!!  Go DAD

I hope I didn't wear him out too much because he needs to be able to toss some bean bags in the holes tomorrow if he wants to be #1 again.  We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Fun filled day

 March 23, 2022

Georgia Good Sam Rally'

Perry, Ga

Well it sure seemed like the two legged had a busy day.  It all began with card games in the morning when a group of 10 gathered around the round table in the rally hall

dealing out cards and shouting "UNO" or "Oh NO....what card did you just play causing me to pick up 5 additional cards?  I thought the idea was to get rid of cards!"  It was a rousing, noisy game enjoyed by all so they tell me.  I had to stay in the rig while the wind whistled outside.  At least the rain today was minimal.

I guess everyone worked up a good appetite if these plates of food are any indication.  Check out this Amish spread cooked at Yoder's Deitsch Haus Restaurant.

The only complaint was that the food was so good, everyone cleaned their plate, overloading their stomachs and had to waddle out the door.

Not even a doggy bag for me.  Go figure!!

They took a slight detour on the way back stopping at Stripling's General Store

Not only did Momma bring home some sausage, she found some easy to maintain tulips....as in real look, artificial flowers.
As soon as they zipped home to toss the meat in the refrigerator, they dashed off for an afternoon of more card games.  Dad said he had a winning tie score in Dirty Uno while Momma's team lost the game of Hand and Foot.

FINALLY, the fun part of the day arrived...well, fun for ME that is.  Everyone gathered around in a circle of friendship and I went from person to person asking them to toss my ball in the air.

Wrapping up the evening with BINGO, Reba was smiling and singing "I"m in the money!!"

Having a super time in Georgia...
