Safe distance HUGS to ALL

April 2, 2020
Sheltering at Home

Momma and I had talked about sending a 'safe distance hug' 🤗 to all our GTS camping friends today...the day that we would have been giving 'normal',  hold me tight hugs at Wilderness RV Resort had the pandemic not occured.  I was just getting ready to take my first morning 'dip' of the day in my private non-fish pond
when Momma corralled me and told me to get my computing done before I got soggy, wet.

So my family is hoping that your family is safe and Covid 19 free as we watch the numbers rise daily.  Sending prayers for good health  and a BIG HUG to ALL!

I do have to admit that this shelter at home time has been productive.  I mean I really do miss traveling but ....our garage and shop overhead doors look terrific with a new coat of paint!!  When you have lots of time on your hands, you can really drag out a job.  First you sand any rusty looking areas.  Then you coat the doors with a primer that just doesn't want to dry...because it is the WRONG type of primer for latex paint.  Then you use more arm muscles as you scrub and wash off the troublesome primer so you can turn around and use the correct product.  The final end result is just gorgeous!!

Then there was the 'creative' project.  Dad has an old ammunition metal box that he carries in the back of our truck with some of his tools.
It's a deep box that gets jostled a bit as we travel up and down the highways causing some of the smaller items to settle on the bottom of the box.  On the end of his work bench, an old receiver that has been replaced was taking up space, waiting for the electronics discard day (that of course has been cancelled).

As you can see, there is no longer a top on the receiver.  That piece of metal was the perfect  material to cut, shape, weld and form into a pull out shelf to hold all those smaller items that kept shifting to the bottom of the tool box.

With guides installed in the box and fresh coat of paint on everything, the job was a complete success!!

Now you may be wondering why I am sharing all of Dad's projects and none of Momma's.  Well, there is a reason for that.  Somehow Momma managed to sprain her hand/wrist.  Her RIGHT hand.  And yes, she was learning how to become a 'lefty'.  Thankfully, the healing process is going in a positive direction and Dad no longer needs to act as her right hand for those numerous two handed jobs.

Today Dad is completing the entrance steps project on our 5er.  He removed all the stair treads, sanded any rusty looking areas and sprayed a fresh coat of black paint on the steps.  Now he is reinstalling the stair treads.

Our flowers are also very appreciative of all the extra attention and feedings that they have been receiving from the stay at homers and are showering us with pretty blooms.

Momma has made a couple of quick trips for groceries.  She said it reminds her of shopping in Canada at the Co-op  where you puchase what is available as you have limited choice of brands and of size of packaging.....although the shelves were fully stocked at those Co-ops without all the bare spots are experiencing now.  Our house pantry is usually pretty empty about this time as year as we gear up for a hitch up.  Momma had quite a bit of restocking to do as we will be at home for several weeks to come and we won't be using the 'there's always a grocery store where we are heading' philosophy.

Well, I think I've earned my 'pond time'.  Stay safe, healthy and stay in touch!

I'm Chloe
