Ye Olde Mill Campground
Burnt Cabins, PA
I'm still wondering what Buckwheat Pancakes taste like, but they must be pretty good as Dad cleaned his plate. None for poor little old me 😞 This campground is located in a small....35 homes....community in the middle of nowhere Pennsylvania (who would want to live in a community named Burnt Cabins?) But it is an interesting campground as it has one of the few remaining working Grist Mills.
We timed out visit for the Sunday tour of the grist mill.
The ingenuity is just mind boggling. All the elevators/shoots, grinding stones, gears and wooden water wheel working to grind corn...some roasted to add a different flavor to the corn meal. And of course other grains are ground as well. The camp office/store is an old building. Lots of history here.
It is definitely fall.....at least the temps are fall temps... 50's at night... and the pumpkins are plentiful.
I wonder if we could play toss and catch with those big orange balls.
I'm Chloe
