And the Golden Triangle monthly campout begins

 April 3, 2025

Wild Frontier Resort site 271

Ocala, Fl

Now talk about a short travel day!  Sixty six miles was all it took to arrive at the site of the Golden Triangle Campers monthly campout location.  I guess I can't say that applies to everyone though as we had two rigs depart from the caravan and we gained three additional rigs who came from their home base.

Now here's something to ponder.  The first rig to depart this morning from Otter Springs was one of the last to arrive at Wild Frontier....and it wasn't because they took a long rest break.  It seems their GPS routed them on an unusual path and failed to locate the campground entrance....so round and round they traveled.  Talk about frustrating!!😕

I'm happy to report that by the time Happy Hour rolled around at 3pm, all eleven rigs had settled onto their weekend sites and the tables in the clubhouse had received a festive look from our weekend hosts.

Of course settling onto the site was a challenge in itself.  The paved area is just wide enough for the rig and with the streets being a tad on the narrow side meant cutting across the grass in order to swing onto the site without colliding with the campers and their tow vehicles across the road.  No biggie there.  We've done that many times. Aunt Pam even had the assistance of the neighbor across the road to help spot for her and guide her onto her site.

But this is the first in a LONG time that our power cord was too short to reach the pedestal.  Time to reach into the back recesses of the storage bay for the extension cord.  In addition, an extra length of hose had to be used to reach the water source.

Dinner was a potluck affair entitled 'Grill and Chill'.  Everyone brought their own grilled meat and a dish to share.

So many choices filled the serving table as well as the dessert table.
I'm really not a fan of the 'no pets allowed in buildings' rule.  I never get to enjoy the smells of all that food, much less have the opportunity to try to sneak a bite or two.  At least Momma has made sure we haven't run out of my favorite dog treats.  They make me smile for sure!!

Otter Springs

 April 2, 2025

Otter Springs CG site 51

Trenton, Fl

There will be NO April 1st post.  I'm not quite sure what was going on, but my computer was acting funky....an April Fool's event?  Momma said it was just probably all that sugar sand on my paws that the computer didn't like.

Talk about extremes.  We just left a well manicured campground with owners who were truly concerned with our comfort and needs and arrived at Otter Springs.... a definitely rustic campground complete with tree roots, mud puddles and a 'well, you chose to come here and it is what it is attitude.'

Our trip back into Florida was uneventful,

but Jan's tire with a screw in it caused an unplanned stop in his travels.  Now Robin, on the other hand, made it all the way into the campground and managed to creep into his site with his soft tire.

Rick an
d Louise's trip could have been nerve-wracking for Rick, but he just sat back and let Louise get a feel for what it is like being behind the wheel for an hour.

Way to go girl!!

The gal at check in told Momma we had a pull in - back out site. Momma didn't think too much about it as we have had situations in the past where the exit to the site caused us to back out due to an obstruction that would have made us unable to make the turn onto the road while attached to our rig.  When we arrived at our site and pulled it, our truck was land locked....as in a row of campers ahead of us.

When Momma called the office to question our truck being land locked, the response was, "Well I wasn't the one who assigned you that site!"  Huh?? What exactly does that mean?  The site next to us was empty, so Dad just unhooked from the fifth wheel and maneuvered out that empty site to go fill the Ram's tank with diesel.  The Ram is back in front now and ready to hook up for departure.

Some of the group walked down to check out the spring fed water.

is that a flying fish?

check out that leaping mullet

The weather was great for outdoor games so out came the board and beanbags.  And the winners were...

Now here's a shot to check out.
The beanbag on final approach
Our caravan is drawing to a close.  One rig departed today to make their way to a high school reunion.  The rest of us (except one rig heading north) will depart tomorrow traveling to the location of our monthly campout being held in Ocala, Florida.

What a fantastic group of friends to travel with.  I have enjoyed every minute!!  Especially when I can get someone to toss my ball for me!  Thanks friends💖

Pebble Hill

March 31, 2025

Waycross, GA

Pebble Hill CG site 16

Golden Triangle has never been treated to such great hospitality at a campground as Missy and her husband have provided here at Pebble Hill.  With the location of the clubhouse being quite a distance from our campsites, a couple of golf carts were provided for us.

Today the clubhouse got lots of use.

The clubhouse is located upstairs
with a great view of the pool

and plenty of room for a game of beanbag baseball.
Isn't that Momma on 3rd base.  Pam brought her home with a home run.

Teams are created by the color of tickets drawn....and random teams are established.
Tradition has established a photo op for the winning team.

The tables were used for some card games as well as a potluck dinner.

Wow! That table in front of the fireplace is loaded with food!
Momma's phone was hopping with texts about the great dinner that was enjoyed.

As with any good sized group, someone is always doing research and thinking ahead.  As a result, the dinner time was moved up 30 minutes due to a storm coming in.  Momma and Dad made it back to our rig just before the wind began to blow and the rain began to pour down on us.  I REALLY don't like storms like that one.  Lucky for me the storm was short lived.

All is well here and the campground owner, Missy, is doing everything she can to make sure all our needs are met and everyone is enjoying their stay.  She even invited us to stay longer and participate in their community garden planting.  She is loaded with so much energy, she reminds me of myself!  Maybe she'd like to play ball with me?
